You may use your course notes and reference key ideas with the name of the author and article. e.g. (Johnson, Raising Pigs in Antarctica).

Read the whole paper first (2 mins)

By the end of this course each student will:

1. Cognitive (Head): Have developed an integrated theological framework for the multiple aspects of urban poor ministry.
2.
Cognitive (Head): Be able to relate the complex issues of urban poor mission practice to the Kingdom of God as a wider framework than evangelism and church growth.
3.
Affective (Heart):  Have an enthusiasm for entering in to the needs of poor communities.  Have developed a heart for the global urban poor.
4.
Affective (Heart): Where past experiences in urban poor ministry have caused emotional damage, some elements of healing within the context of the class dynamics will have been initiated.
5. Praxis (Hands): Within six months to have implemented action steps from the class that extend one area of expansion of a slum church.

2. Theology (25 mins)
We have used the Kingdom of God as a theme for holistic churchplanting.  What is the kingdom of God? Can you diagram your ideas about the Kingdom? Relate the Kingdom of God to one issue in your slum churchplanting such as evangelism, conversion, socio-economics, justice, poverty.  Using diagrams and then describing what they mean helps communication.

3. Strategy and Practice (30 mins)
Goal 5 above states: "Within six months to have implemented action steps from the class that extend one area of expansion of a slum church".  This could be either a new churchplant, a new evangelistic thrust, or a new project.
It could be an outreach from a rich church, or a new work among prostitutes.

a. In one paragraph describe your target community.
b. I have used the Four Seasons diagram during this course.  Draw a your own different diagram of progressions you want to see in an urban poor churchplant of your choosing (could be one you are involved in, or one you know, or an ideal theoretical situation.
c. Describe the progressions at each phase.
d. Define your milestones and give them timeframes.
e. Describe how you will resource this with people and note key cashflow items (could use another diagram to show the cashflow progressions.

If it is simpler, think about these question

  1. Goals: What is ... ?
  2. Workflow: How do I ... ?
  3. Resources: Where can I find ... ?
  4. Problems: Why doesn't ... ?
  5. People Resources: Who is ... ?
  6. Milestones: When is ... ?
