Leadership Principles

"A good leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be."

Rosalynn Carter

There are a score of books on principles of Leadership. We shall restrict our discussions to those related to movement Leadership.

Throughout the course we will continue to identify principles to add to this list.

Team Building

  • Entry to Leadership

It is generally best to enter a Leadership role in a low key approach. This buys you time to gather information and build relationships. It gives you an opportunity to learn the culture of the organization and to benefit from the wisdom of those who are already there. The time to rest is at the beginning of a ministry. At the end there is little time for rest.this is in contrast with teh drivennness of much management theory. Organizational mandates may not permit this slower approoach.
