Work of a Successful Pastor's Wife

  • Praying for the work of their husband
  • Counselling people who come when the pastor is not there
  • Ready to preach the Word of God
  • Visit the sick and needy
  • Work well with the people, comfort them and help them.
  • Do everything the pastor does if he is not there, such as burying the dead.
  • Both husband and wife are ordained together, but the churches do not allow us to do some things such as burying the dead.
  • Visit the poorest of the people and provide for them, being like social worker among the people.
  • Give good hospitality
  • Work as teachers especially as street children
  • Work caring for HIV/AIDS and basic health
  • Teach those who cannot read and write - adult literacy
  • Home for the aged
  • Centres for tailoring (2)
  • Education for the street children and school (1)

These all need resources.

Qualities of a Pastor's Wife

  • Submit to the pastor.
  • Should not boast that they are better than their husband, even if they are doing more.
  •  

Problems they are Facing

  • Society does not allow us to do everything
  • Sometimes the people tell us to go and get some work.

What are the Areas of Training Wives Need?

  • Train the younger ones in what we have experienced, those areas of importance
  • Practical theology
  • Rather than training they need to have fellowships and pastors wives conferences, where experiences ad problems can be shared.
