Subject Title: Academic English Development
GENERAL STATEMENT ABOUT THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
Candidates will research and evaluate the vocabulary and grammar needed to carry out critical evaluation proficiently in the English langauge. Candiadtes will acquire a vocabulary of 400 words (of which 80 words are advanced theological and Biblical words) that will enable them to express their critical evaluation using appropriate terminology. Correct grammatical construction of sentences, interesting use of English expressions, correct punctuation, use of quotations and referencing, will be understood and used competently. Able to use of an Advanced English dictionary and Theasaurus. Able to exegete and interpret in context a passage of Romans containing an advanced theological idea in the English language. This will lead to the necessary preparation to undertake a thesis at Masters level as required by the Masters in Urban Leadership degree. An academic foundation for these processes will be developed that avoids plagiarism and prepares candidates for a high level of credible writing.
