Aims of the Consultation

The 2024 Urban Poor Leaders Training Consultation has played a pivotal role in the innovative expansion of urban poor missiology, particularly through the Master of Arts (MA) in Transformational Urban Leadership. This program has successfully produced grassroots-level certificates and facilitated high-level consultations with city leaders. We are committed to further strengthening the program's pedagogical foundation, course design, and recruitment strategies based on valuable feedback from partner institutions.

Our upcoming meeting will be held in collaboration with Local Leaders International at the Center for Urban Ministry in Kibera, Nairobi, a shining example of the "Getting the Seminary into the Slums" incarnational approach. Local Leaders International is actively exploring models and processes for establishing Urban Leadership Institutes or Centers for Urban Mission across African cities and potentially beyond.

Following this, we will dedicate two days to expanding our Faith-Based Land Justice Network, incorporating contributions from across Africa and the globe.

This consultation will be a hybrid event, welcoming both in-person and online participation. We kindly request that online participants commit to specific blocks of time to ensure full engagement in discussions and active contribution to presentations.
